Greener Building in the Sub-Tropics



Green building is a rapidly evolving industry as new techniques and materials enter a growing market created by concerned clients, as Nathan Staal, of Buderim, Queensland, reports.

AUSTRALIANS are demanding more from their builder today. They want quality craftsmanship and sustainability. Establishing a green building company was a passion when I launched Creen Earth Homes in 2007. My view of green building is holistic, and while some clients choose to build a completely sustainable home, others decide to incorporate sustainable elements into their conventional home. We therefore help all clients with their green options.

What I find so exciting about the sustainable building industry is the range of new green products and materiais that constantly become available as technology evolves. One example of this is a recent project that we have just completed on the Sunshine Coast, which involved the construction of a I80-square-metre ‘ModWood’ deck and the installation of bamboo flooring throughout our clients’ renovated living spaces.
